Welcome to the Nourish & Glow collection.  

They say that necessity is the mother of all invention and our business is a great illustration of this maxim.

Nourish & Glow was created to meet nutritional needs that resulted from a set of food allergies - intolerances to dairy and gluten among them.

Cofounder Jenny had been giving her daughter - a professional sportswoman - cacao powder thinking it was high in nutrition

She accidentally discovered that the process of powdering cacao involves the roasted and ground cacao nibs cacao being treated with an alkaline solution to darken the colour of the liquor.

This process along with high temperature roasting takes away much of the cacao’s nutritional value. Raw cacao does not go through the same high temperatures and has nothing added to it, leaving the nutrients untouched.

This discovery led Jenny on a search that found Peruvian Raw Ceremonial Cacao made from the Criollo bean. This is often cited as the best cacao bean available anywhere and is a rare nutrient- rich super food. And most importantly it could help her daughter regain a lot of her lost nutrition. 

On realising that there almost certainly other people in a similar position, Jenny suggested to her brother Chris that they go into business selling Raw Ceremonial Cacao, and when he said yes, Nourish & Glow was born. 

Having started with Raw Ceremonial Cacao our range now includes Japanese Ceremonial Matcha Tea along with Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, Reishi and Cordyceps Mushroom Powders.

Each of our products has qualities that can help us get through demanding and often stressful lives a little more easily.

The benefits of cacao have been known about for thousands of years having been used as a medicine by the Mayans and Aztecs. 

Being a great source of iron, antioxidants, calcium and magnesium makes cacao a great addition to anyone’s day. 

Our Ceremonial Matcha Tea comes from Kyoto in Japan and is rich in catechins which act as antioxidants as well as being high in caffeine. An enzyme called L- theanine smooths out the energy from the caffeine and eliminates the rollercoaster effect that we often associate with coffee

Matcha can also help reduce stress by activating dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain and as a result it is increasingly used to treat anxiety. 

Mushrooms are becoming increasingly popular because of their health giving properties. Out of a probable 14,000 species of mushroom,  approximately 2-2,200 are edible. There is ongoing research around these organisms, with users reporting great benefits from them. 

As an example, our Lion’s Mane is said to help improve brain function, reduce brain fog and work on gut health - this falls in with the idea that our gut and brain health is unbreakably linked.

All of our products our highly nutritious and can help to deal with the arrows that everyday life fires at us - right now our mental and physical health has never been more important or at risk.
